Table Tennis

Overview of Table Tennis

One of the two newest additions to the VJC CCA family, Table Tennis has made a name for itself by winning national fourth place. Moving forward, we look to keep our top four position.

Interesting Fact

All of our players have at least two CCAS; the relatively short and flexible training times allows our players have a good ‘study-life balance’ and room to develop other interests.

Important Information

How often do you have your trainings?

Two times a week (on either Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays) for two hours.

Would you like to give us a glimpse of what trainings are usually like?

Firstly, during training sessions, all players will be given time to train with the coach to correct their strokes and improve their ball sense. The coach will vary the training regime based on the individual skill of each player.

Furthermore, time will also be given for players to play against their teammates. This nurtures a competitive spirit amongst teammates and motivates them to improve as a team.

More about Table Tennis

Why did you choose to join this CCA?

I saw the potential in creating the table tennis team in VJ and fighting for one of the top four national positions. But most importantly, I wanted to continue making a name for my school, playing the sport I love.

Noteworthy CCA milestones in the past year/ What would you consider to be the highlight of your CCA journey thus far?

Attaining the fourth position despite it being our first year.

What about the CCA culture? What’s it like?

The 2017 batch of players dedicate their time and effort towards honing their skills. Their passion for the sport is truly admirable and all players have become more proficient at the sport after months of hard work. Always striving to achieve the best we can, we are gunning to retain that top four position.

In a Nutshell

To the incoming batch of juniors who will be busy pondering over the issue of CCA selection, what words would you give to those who may be keen on entering your CCA family?

You are not required to have any prior experience of Table Tennis to join the CCA. As a team, we value passion for the sport more than anything else; do not be discouraged by the fact that we accept maximum seven next year. As long as you have the desire to improve and are willing to put in the hard work, we are more than happy to welcome you into the CCA.
